Bridge Of Spies is another terrific film from Steven Spielberg with great performances, writing, directing and technical execution. The film's scenes are sewn seamlessly together so that some scene's appear to be done in one take, which is a technique I really love to see used in film making as was done very effectively in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance) last year. Although this technique wasn't used for the entire film like Birdman but it was used well in transitioning between locations in this film. The story was also very interesting and Spielberg brilliantly tensified the exchange of captured spies and effectively utilized the Cold War atmosphere into the film. The writing for this film was brilliant. My favorite pieces of writing in the film were Tom Hank's monologues about what an American truly is defined by and the protection of constitutional rights. Speaking of which, Tom Hanks gives a phenomenal performance in this film which is certainly Oscar caliber that will hopefully earn him another Academy Award nomination at the very least. His supporting cast is also very well rounded with Mark Rylance as the Russian spy whom Tom Hank's character must defend, and Amy Ryan who plays Tom Hank's wife. Both do quite well when onscreen and worked well with Hanks. Spielberg does a terrific job of combining all of these elements to create a great film. Overall, Bridge of Spies is another wonderful film from Spielberg that I highly recommend. I especially suggest it for those interested in period pieces, history in film, or "Oscar bait" type films.

Film Assessment: B+
